Arrival in Thika
In 1904, the Harries family arrived in Kenya and settled in Thika area, where the company is still located today.

1985-1998
Our First Initiative
Most of our first projects occured in the arid Northern Kenya. The origin of Kijito enterprise comes from the will to design solutions to the issue of water access in the arid Northern Kenya.
First Projects
The installation of a Kijito windpump 25 years ago. At that time the rotor was white and red. We now propose a green color in order to be in close accord with the natural environment.

Maintainance
Maintenance is a key step for project sustainability. Kijito windpumps requires very little, but regular, maintenance: it consists in greasing the bearings twice a year.
Manufacturing the blades
The blades, as the whole windpump, is manufactured in Thika workshop, Kenya, with the highest standards.
Visit of HRH Prince Charles
In 1986 we were honoured by a visit from HRH Prince Charles who came to further his interests in alternative energy.
